Laura Mulvey, Professor of Film, Media and Cultural Studies at Birkbeck College, University of London, is one of the world’s foremost theorists and historians of cinema. Among her major publications are Visual and Other Pleasures, Fetishism and Curiosity, and Death 24 X A Second. Professor Mulvey will discuss the powerful documentary Un’ora sola ti vorrei (2002) – For One Hour More with You – by Italian filmmaker Alina Marazzi. Using a combination of home-movie footage and readings from her mother’s diary, Marazzi probes the meaning of the life and loss of her mother, who died of her own hand when Marazzi was seven years old.
